Newberry-based Endoscopy Replacement Parts concluded its big week in Washington, D.C. by being featured on a press call along with an Obama Cabinet member on Friday (May 6).

David P. Bello Sr., the company’s CEO and founder, joined with Small Business Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman and former U.S. Representative Jim Davis of Tampa in touting the benefits of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

On Monday, the U.S. Small Business Administration presented Endoscopy Replacement Parts with its National Exporter of the Year Award as part of Small Business Week activities.

The TPP agreement, which was signed in February of this year but still has to get congressional approval, aims to reduce trade barriers among 12 countries including Canada, Japan, Singapore, the U.S. and Vietnam.

The TPP would eliminate or lessen the impact of some of the 18,000 tariffs and taxes amid the countries involved, Contreras-Sweet said. Most of the U.S. companies that would benefit are small businesses. “This is not just about the multi-nationals,” she said.

Endoscopy Replacement Parts has customers in nine of the TPP countries, Bello noted. “This will enable us to sell more products.”
